🌸 A window into Moroccan language and culture
Zaynab
Founder, Noujoud Academy
I've spent years teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language at the university level, and through study-abroad programs like WorldStrides. This online academy was born from one simple question: what happens to my students once they're back home?
Since then, I've realized my students aren't only people who've traveled to an Arabic-speaking country. Many have never set foot in one and simply want to learn. Others are curious about Islam and want to explore it through language and culture, or are Muslims looking to reconnect with the Quran. Wherever you're starting from, there's a path here for you.
I'm also a researcher in psycholinguistics, particularly interested in how people learn to speak a new language without feeling blocked — which shapes the way I teach directly.

✨ This is for you if…
Three ways to arrive here
The academy adapts to where you're starting from — not the other way around.
You're starting from zero
The Arabic alphabet, first sounds, first sentences — at your own pace, without feeling judged on your pronunciation.
You're back from a trip to Morocco
You took a travel program or in-person classes here, and you want to keep going now that you're home — without losing what you learned.
You're aiming for real fluency
You want a structured path, from Arabic to Quran, until you can read and express yourself without stopping at every word.

Reading fluency and more complex self-expression.
Confident conversation and reading, including literary Arabic.
Darija Program
The Moroccan Arabic people actually speak — in the souk, at the family table, in everyday life.
- Visiting or moving to Morocco — order at a café, haggle in the souk, and actually understand what's happening around you
- Moroccan roots, raised abroad — help yourself or your kids reconnect with the Darija spoken at home

What students say
What real students are saying, in their own words.
"Learning with Zaynab is very enjoyable! She truly understands how to teach and adapts very well to the student. I highly recommend her lessons!"
"My experience with this Arabic program is consistently positive — I feel I'm learning a lot of material in a way that's interactive and personalized, making the learning process so much more comprehensive and enjoyable than other language programs. I find myself always excited for my online Arabic classes with Ms. Zineb!"
"My experience learning Arabic with professor Zaynab was wonderful — she made learning so much fun and easier, even though Arabic is a hard language. She makes every session special with her unique teaching techniques! I highly recommend her — she's definitely the ideal Arabic professor anyone could ask for."
"She's patient, and makes you feel comfortable making mistakes. She provides an environment with the perfect mix of seriousness and goofiness, which makes it even more enjoyable. She's also the loveliest person ever!"
"I am a new student to the Arabic language as an English speaker. I knew Zaynab was amazing during my first lesson, when we went over the alphabet and she used English words to demonstrate the various sounds of the Arabic alphabet (some of which don't exist in English) in a very comprehensive way. Zaynab is kind, patient, gentle, and makes learning an absolute joy. She makes sure to individualize each class for each student's goals. If you want to learn Arabic, trust me on this and learn with Zaynab! You will not be disappointed, I promise 😊"

✨ Frequently Asked Questions
Before you book
Is the trial lesson really free?+
Yes. 25 minutes to assess your level and recommend a path (Arabic, Darija, Quran, or a mix), with no commitment afterward.
How does payment work if I'm abroad?+
Through a secure Stripe payment link, sent to you over WhatsApp once your time is booked — works the same whether you're in the US, Europe, Morocco, or anywhere else.
Do I need to already know the Arabic alphabet to start?+
No. The Arabic Program starts from the alphabet, and the Quran Program also works for complete beginners. Darija lessons are spoken-first, so you don't need to read or write Arabic script at all to start.
What's the difference between the Arabic Program and Darija?+
The Arabic Program teaches Modern Standard Arabic — the formal language of reading, writing, and media across the Arab world. Darija is the spoken Moroccan dialect used in daily life, at home, and in the street — different vocabulary, different grammar, and no fixed writing system. Many students combine both, especially if they're learning for family or day-to-day life in Morocco.
Arabic, Darija, or Quran — how do I choose?+
That's exactly what the trial lesson is for: depending on your goal — everyday spoken Moroccan Arabic, formal speaking and writing, or reading and memorizing the Quran — the recommendation happens together, not blindly.
Are the lessons live?+
Always. Every session happens over live video (Zoom or Google Meet) — no pre-recorded video ever replaces the lesson.
What if I need to reschedule or miss a session?+
Life happens. Give at least 10 hours' notice and we'll find a new time at no cost — no questions asked. Cancellations with less notice, or a no-show, unfortunately use up that session. If I'm ever the one who needs to reschedule, it's always free and never counts against your pack.
Do pack hours expire?+
No strict expiration — your 30-hour pack (solo, duo, or trio) is yours to use at your own pace. That said, steady weekly sessions tend to bring the best results, so I'll gently check in if a pack goes quiet for a while.
